Nonprofit Fundraising Resolution #1 – Be Fresh with your Donors
Every year, resolutions come and go – but not this year! 2012 is the year your nonprofit will be successful online! In this multi-part series we will be giving you tips and tricks to stay on your Nonprofit Fundraising Resolutions to be the best organization you can be. In this post, we address how to engage your donors and constituents with fresh content!
Resolution #1 – Be fresh with your Donors…fresh with content!
Donors are addicted to content. They want to know Who needs help, What is going on, Where an event is taking place, When you need their help and Why they should care. And they want this content regularly. If you are like most nonprofits we work with, you are always struggling for content ideas.
But you shouldn’t be struggling – Your organization creates stories every day by working towards a mission – now you just have to post those stories as “progress” updates.
Follow the “who, what, where, when, and why” of nonprofit content, and you’ll be able to easily come up with new content ideas.
Tell them how much they have helped this past month with funds raised or families (or puppies or wetlands, etc..) saved or helped. Do a summary of an event you just had and post pictures. It’s that simple.
Oh, and don’t forget to add a call to action (a.k.a. the ASK) in every piece of content you post. If you do a blog post about the families your organization has helped, make sure your ask is relevant to that statistic.
Ex. “We helped 40 families get new homes last year through your donations and support. Our goal is to help 50 families this year – your donation today will make that a reality this year.”
Resolution Helper: This Content Management Template by Drew Rose will help you plan it all out and keep on a schedule!
